What RentRecord is
RentRecord is a documentation tool that lets tenants and landlords create a timestamped, tamper-evident record of a rental property's condition at move-in and move-out. By creating an account or using RentRecord, you agree to these Terms. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data, and our Legal & Disclaimers page for what RentRecord does and does not do.

RentRecord provides documentation and record-keeping tools only. It does not provide legal, financial, or other professional advice, and nothing in the app is a guarantee of any particular outcome in a dispute, deposit return, or legal proceeding. Landlord–tenant law varies by location — consult a qualified attorney for advice about your specific situation.
Accounts and roles
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. RentRecord distinguishes tenant and landlord roles; some features (inviting a counterparty, purchasing credits) are role-specific.
Shared, neutral inspection records
When you invite a counterparty to an inspection and they accept, or when you accept an invitation, the inspection becomes a shared record between both parties. From that point, content submitted to that record (photos, notes, condition observations) is retained permanently and cannot be unilaterally deleted or altered by either party — this is what makes the record neutral and useful in a dispute. See the Privacy Policy for the full retention rules, including what can still be deleted before a counterparty joins.
Billing
RentRecord uses one-time payments, not subscriptions. Landlords purchase inspection credits in bundles; each credit opens one inspection lifecycle (move-in through move-out) and credits do not expire. A landlord's first inspection may be opened without spending a credit. Tenants pay a one-time fee per inspection to unlock the clean (non-watermarked) PDF and permanent vault access for that inspection; the wizard, timeline, and photo uploads are free to use before that. All payments are processed by Stripe. Purchases are generally final; contact support@rentrecord.app if something went wrong with a charge.
Acceptable use
You agree not to upload content that isn't genuinely related to documenting the property you're inspecting, to misrepresent your identity or role, to attempt to circumvent the inspection-locking or vault mechanisms, or to use RentRecord to harass or defraud another user.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
RentRecord is provided "as is." We do not warrant that documentation created with RentRecord will be accepted as evidence by any particular court, arbitrator, or third party — admissibility and evidentiary weight are determined by the relevant tribunal under applicable rules, not by us. To the maximum extent permitted by law, RentRecord is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including the outcome of any dispute, deposit claim, or legal proceeding.
Canadian users
RentRecord is available to users in Canada as well as the United States. See our Privacy Policy's "Canadian users" section for how PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy legislation (including Quebec's Law 25) apply to your personal information, and for the cross-border data transfer disclosure. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any right or protection you have under mandatory consumer-protection law in your province or territory that cannot be waived by agreement.
Termination
You may stop using RentRecord at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms. Termination of your account does not affect the retention rules described above for any inspection record already shared with a counterparty.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "last updated" date, and where required, we will notify you directly.
